What to see

  • Stone paving: granite paving and a wide sky, because the power lines are buried underground.
  • Retro buildings: traditional Kawagoe townhouses and Western-style shopfronts stand side by side.
  • Shops: from everyday goods to souvenirs, in a mix of individual stores.

History

Around 1955 it was known as the Ginza shopping street. The arcade was removed in 1995 and the street was redeveloped around a Taisho-romance theme.
